Position Overview: The Teaching Intern will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned teachers throughout the course of our 5-week summer program. Interns will be assigned to a classroom for the duration of the summer and will gain experience with classroom management, lesson planning, and instruction. Interns will see firsthand the impact that teachers can have on the academic and emotional development of students and develop skills for their future careers in education. Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience with other on-going projects during their work before and after the summer program.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Support the teacher with strong student engagement and classroom management strategies
- Collaborate with classroom team and success coaches to support student learning and engagement
- Supervise and engage with students throughout the program day, including recess, lunch and trips
- Lead students through small group activities in the classroom–acting as a facilitator or co-facilitator depending on activity
- Support our Development and Family Engagement Teams with on-going projects
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated experience leading educational, recreational, and social activities for students
- Experience and comfort using the Microsoft Suite
- Demonstrated ability to follow youth safety policy and make judgments in situations involving youth safety

This can be through work at a camp, after school program or other youth programming. **This internship is funded by the Helene & Grant Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Pace University, the intern hired for this position will make a full-time commitment for 8 weeks, working no more than 35 hours each week, a total of 280 hours*
