Digital Media and Marketing Intern - Wilson Center Funded

About the Employer: Hudson River Park Friends is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the completion, care, and enhancement of Hudson River Park on Manhattan's west side between Chambers St. and W 59th St., and is the designated fundraising and advocacy partner for Hudson River Park.

Hudson River Park is four+ miles of parkland, piers and bike and pedestrian paths encompassing 150 acres of land and piers and 400 acres of NYS designated marine sanctuary. Friends creates opportunities for private contributions to Park gardens and landscapes, environmental and sustainability programs, STEM-based public education, volunteerism, and community participation in the Park's operations and growth.

With new spaces that opened in 2023, including Gansevoort Peninsula and its popular beach, the Pier 26 Science Playground, and the exciting new Pier 97 opening in 2024, now is a thrilling time to be a part of Hudson River Park and Friends. You’ll be joining a team tasked with building awareness and engagement for one of NYC’s most dynamic growing green spaces in one of the most exciting years in Park history.

Position Overview: The Digital Media and Communications Intern supports Hudson River Park’s Communications & Marketing teams. The intern plays an active role in digital efforts on social media, web and other digital platforms as this team engages the public on the importance of the Park in the community and its many offerings and activities. The intern will take part in every stage of content development: contributing to brainstorms, gathering visual assets, developing engaging digital storytelling (through video and potentially audio, depending on the skillset of the intern) for the Park’s digital platforms, supporting the organization’s digital asset management, tracking analytics and monitoring trends.

This internship offers ample opportunity to make a creative impact, take part in strategic conversations and build digital media, marketing and communications skills while enjoying a unique inside view into the operations of a key NYC public space.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Digital Content Development
• Work with Communications & Marketing team to develop, write copy for and execute Social Media campaigns across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
• Enhance the Park’s digital storytelling by collecting and developing photo and video assets for Park digital channels
• Assist with the organization and development of a growing digital asset library
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to share ideas, define strategy, and be instrumental in bringing them to life
• Depending on candidate skill set, undertake keyword research to inform SEO strategy and paid search campaigns
• Depending on candidate skill set, develop long-form storytelling for Park channels
Analytics and Strategy
• Track email marketing analytics and social media growth and engagement
• Report on growth analysis, assisting Communications & Marketing team with making strategic, data-driven decisions
• Competitor and Trend Analysis – helping our team stay current in digital media trends and monitor competitors’ content for new social strategies

Preferred Skills: 
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of, interest in and experience working with social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
• Knowledge of marketing content trends
• Photography and photo editing skills
• Videography and editing skills — ability to creatively tell stories through video
o Competence in editing software (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
• Knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite programs a plus
• Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office Suites
• Knowledge of Mailchimp, Hootsuite, and CMS experience a plus
• Experience developing audio content a plus
• Professional experience with Social Media platforms and engaging online communities a plus

**This internship is funded by the Helene & Grant Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Pace University, the intern hired for this position will make a full-time commitment for 8 weeks, working no more than 35 hours each week, a total of 280 hours*
