ATTENTION PACE STUDENTS: This paid Summer 2024 opportunity is provided by Pace University through its Community Impact Funded Internship Program to support our students and the communities we serve. It’s open to all enrolled Pace students, including undergraduate, graduate, and international students.
Under this program, full-time internships are provided by host organizations selected by Pace University Career Services staff. The compensation is $19.00 per hour. The maximum amount of money a student can make under this program in 2024 is $6,000.00.
Students must be enrolled at Pace University during the entire length of their internship, and NOT graduating before December 2024. If a student leaves Pace or graduates before the estimated end of their internship, the internship will end immediately.
The position might require you to report to a work site, work remotely, or work a hybrid schedule.

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY, you will need to:
- Complete program requirements for one of the following: ASPIRE , INSPIRE, or BUS 255 course.
- Be a currently enrolled Pace student (undergraduate, graduate, and international students), graduating Dec 2024 or later.

Once the application deadline closes, the host organization will review all applications submitted and select those candidates they wish to interview virtually. After the interviews are completed, the host organization will make their selections. Career Services will then inform selected students of their internship offer(s).

Brief description:
The NYPL Energy Team is committed to implementing energy management best practices across the NYPL’s portfolio of buildings to help the City meet its ambitious emissions reductions and energy goals. NYPL is working to reduce building emissions by 49% by 2025 and 86% by 2030 (compared to 2005 levels), culminating in full decarbonization by 2050. The Energy Team works to track overall energy usage and identify energy-saving opportunities in buildings, implement energy-efficient operations and maintenance practices, and oversee the delivery of energy-efficiency retrofit projects. The Energy Intern will work under the direction of the Sr Manager of Energy & Sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr Manager of Energy & Sustainability, the Energy Intern is responsible for a variety of tasks within the Office of Energy and Sustainability, including:
- Performing site visits to facilities with completed LED upgrades
- Selecting sites for further investigation and deploying light-level loggers
- Analyzing past energy bills, real-time metering data where available, and loggers/sensors as needed
- Compiling a report to document findings, including total energy savings per site and opportunities for further investigation
- Identifying facilities to deploy light-level loggers
- Identifying opportunities for further energy reductions
Who would be perfect for this job (qualifications):
Required Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to perform tasks or projects requiring attention to detail
- Demonstrated interest in energy & sustainability or other related STEM fields
- Experience working with MS Excel, Google Sheets, or other database programs
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to perform basic physical functions of the position: lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, sitting, etc.
- Familiarity with the New York City public transport system
