ATTENTION PACE STUDENTS: This paid Summer 2024 opportunity is provided by Pace University through its Community Impact Funded Internship Program to support our students and the communities we serve. It’s open to all enrolled Pace students, including undergraduate, graduate, and international students.
Under this program, full-time internships are provided by host organizations selected by Pace University Career Services staff. The compensation is $19.00 per hour. The maximum amount of money a student can make under this program in 2024 is $6,000.00.
Students must be enrolled at Pace University during the entire length of their internship, and NOT graduating before December 2024. If a student leaves Pace or graduates before the estimated end of their internship, the internship will end immediately.
The position might require you to report to a work site, work remotely, or work a hybrid schedule.

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY, you will need to:
- Complete program requirements for one of the following: ASPIRE, INSPIRE, or BUS 255 course.
- Be a currently enrolled Pace student (undergraduate, graduate, and international students), graduating Dec 2024 or later.

Once the application deadline closes, the host organization will review all applications submitted and select those candidates they wish to interview virtually. After the interviews are completed, the host organization will make their selections. Career Services will then inform selected students of their internship offer(s).

Title of Internship: Everett Children’s Adventure Garden Environmental Education Intern

Brief description: Observe and support an outdoor environmental science education day camp in the summer. Engaging place-based programs offered include in-person school field trips for grades pre K through 5; drop-in family activities and nature play; renowned Explainer Program, a science teaching and citizen science leadership program for local teens; and summer science day camps for grades 1-8. Work with a mentor to research, develop and lead a lesson plan for one of the targeted audiences that best fits the intern’s interests and areas of expertise.
Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.

Responsibilities: Assist with the set-up, facilitation and clean-up of each outdoor, environmental science education program to gain an understanding of the mechanics of running a facility and programs and the specific audiences for each. Take on increasing responsibility to facilitate education programs according to the curriculum. Work with a mentor to select an audience to research, develop and lead a lesson plan that shares the intern’s area of environmental science expertise with an appropriate audience of children/learners.
Who would be perfect for this job (qualifications): Outgoing, friendly, passionate about science and the environment and interested in developing one’s teaching practice to communicate these environmental science ideas with children/teens. Bilingual a plus. Must be comfortable working outside in all types of weather across the 250-acre NYBG campus.
Preferred start and end dates: June 18 - August 16, 2024
Preferred hours per week: June 18 - 28, 9-5 pm; July 1 - August 16, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm
