About the Organization: Did you know that only 21% of low income, first-generation students in the U.S. graduate from college within six years? Those who do graduate have a median household income 27% lower than their peers. While there are a multitude of college access programs for high school seniors and job assistance programs for low-wage earners, there are few programs that ensure first-generation students stay in school and build the skills necessary to prepare for long-term careers. This is where America Needs You (ANY) comes in.
 
ANY fights for economic mobility for ambitious, first-generation college students by providing transformative mentorship and intensive career development. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in New York City, ANY expanded to New Jersey in 2012, Illinois in 2015, and California in 2016, growing from serving 50 students to nearly 600 students annually. Position Overview: We are looking for an entrepreneurial, dynamic intern who is excited about working in a fast-paced and fun nonprofit environment. All interns are responsible for presenting a long-term project at the conclusion of the internship

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
·        Conducting research projects into current trends in career development, alumni services, volunteer recruitment, mentoring, foundation and corporate prospects, grant opportunities, etc.
·        Utilization and improvement of tools and mechanisms for tracking progress against goals.
·        Development of new processes and systems to facilitate a remote working environment.
·        Preparation of ANY’s internal program of training and professional development for staff.
·        Revamping program materials, supporting the transition to a virtual learning program.
·        Supporting recruitment, tracking of outcomes, and alumni programming.
·        Supporting local program teams with workshop preparation and logistics.
·        Participating in individual case meetings with Fellows and Mentor coaches to develop a deeper understanding of program impact.
·        Providing support for full cycle of individual donor giving program, including: prospect research, donor cultivation emails, and donor acknowledgement.
·        Supporting maintenance of donor database by locating and entering accurate donor contact information, identifying duplicate contact and organization records, and updating other records.
·        Supporting special events planning, including local site fundraisers.
 
Preferred Skills:
  • Candidates should be confident in their communication skills, have an ability to effectively manage projects and work independently. Some knowledge and familiarity using platforms such as Salesforce, Canvas, Microsoft Office is preferred.
 
The Ideal Candidate is: The ideal candidate is a student pursuing a degree in social sciences such as psychology or sociology, nonprofit studies, peace and justice studies, public administration. The candidate should be highly-organized and detail-oriented, have strong written and verbal communication skills, enjoy managing multiple projects, and excel at team collaboration.
