About the Organization: Creative Time brings ambitious, socially engaged art to the public – free and open to all. We partner with both established and emerging artists to spark dialogue and debate on the most pressing issues of our times, and to foster dreams for our collective future. We aim to transcend socio-economic, racial, gender, and other barriers that too often define whose art is considered important, and which audiences have access to art. Since 1974, Creative Time has produced over 350 public art projects in New York City, and partnered with thousands of artists across the country and around the globe, led by the conviction that art acts as a powerful means to envision change in our communities.

Position Overview: Creative Time is New York's veteran and vanguard public art organization. Our interns gain hands-on experience developing research, producing projects, and contributing to organizational goals. Interns participate in internal and external planning meetings, attend staff presentations, and travel to local cultural institutions for behind-the-scenes tours.

Our Development Department oversees all fundraising, cultivation and stewardship of our donors and grant-funders. As a Development Intern, you can expect to conduct research on individual, foundation, and corporate support; assist with event planning for some of our largest cultivation events including our annual gala; draft text, design proposals, and coordinate grant schedules and materials; and work with the larger Creative Time team to indicate project-related funding needs. Interns will receive supervision and mentorship from the Development Coordinator, alongside other Creative Time staff. Interns will gain skills in grant writing, prospect research, and salesforce database management, preparing you for any future career in the arts or the non-profit sector, including database management and specialized research. If you want to get to know New York's movers, shakers, and grantmakers, while learning the ins-and-outs of fundraising, the Development department is for you.

Preferred Skills:
•Applicants should have a high attention to detail and be organized, motivated, and self-directed. In addition, solid writing, research, and computer skills are helpful, as is a professional and comfortable phone manner.
•An interest in contemporary art, a familiarity with the field, a sense of humor, and enthusiasm for Creative Time's mission and programs are important.
•Skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, art handling, Excel, and grant writing are highly desirable.
