About the Organization
The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) is dedicated to providing immediate, effective, and comprehensive employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. CEO’s programs help participants regain the skills and confidence needed for successful transitions to stable, productive lives. CEO serves more than 5,000 participants a year, giving them the opportunity to support themselves and their families, remain crime-free, and contribute positively to their communities.

Headquartered in New York City, CEO currently operates in 21 cities across eight states. In 2016, CEO embarked on a five-year strategic plan to serve 11,000 participants annually. CEO has gained support to expand its programs through government, nonprofit, and private organizations, including the Federal Social Innovation Fund, Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, Robin Hood Foundation, James Irvine Foundation, Tipping Point Community, and Google.org, among many others.

About the Internship:
CEO is looking to hire an intern to support our growing Employee Experience team with Special Projects, including; researching/developing pipelines for returning citizens, college students/graduates, and under-served population into the organization, the development of a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)-focused Hiring Guide, as well as other special initiatives. This role will report to the Associate of Special Projects, who is based in Detroit, and to the Lead of Employee Experience, based in NYC. The intern in this role will support the Associate of Special Projects and the Employee Experience team in the following ways:

Responsibilities:
  • Gather data related to candidate and internal staff career development and pipelines for returning citizens and under-served populations employed at CEO; engage in conversations related to action planning around the data
  • Research pipeline building best practices for under-served populations and returning citizens throughout the country for similar organizations; compile and distribute to Employee Experience team
  • Support with the creation of a training guide related to inclusive hiring practices
  • Support with prep and follow-up tasks related to meetings, partnerships, and communications with key internal stakeholders involved in the project
  • Conduct outreach to possible partners and engage in continued correspondence related to pipeline building projects

Requirements:
  • Enthusiasm for CEO’s mission and interest in working in a fast-growing and results-oriented nonprofit environment
  • Aptitude and ability with technology (Google Suite)
  • Deep professionalism and strong customer service
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) and you operate with ease in collaborating with colleagues
  • Ability to prioritize projects; experience coordinating many moving pieces
  • Can set and work towards ambitious goals, problem solve and perform basic data analysis
