Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship: Billion Oyster Project - Summer Intern

*** FEDERAL WORK STUDY STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY ***
***INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY ***

About the Organization
The Billion Oyster Project (BOP) is a long-term initiative to restore one billion live oysters to New York Harbor over a 20 year period, and in the process, educate thousands of young people in New York City about the ecology and economy of their local marine environment. BOP is both a green jobs training program for NYC youth and a habitat-restoration project with benefits for the entire region. One billion oysters would filter the standing volume of the Upper New York Bay once every three days. One billion oysters on two hundred acres of reef will have a profound impact on the biodiversity and bio-productivity of the estuary. Through BOP, thousands of public school students and community members will be directly involved in the restoration of their local environment.

The Billion Oyster Project operates under the New York Harbor Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting public school students in the restoration of their local environment.
