Summer Education Intern at Go Project (Wilson Ctr. Funded)

Eligibility: This Wilson Center funded opportunity is open to all registered Pace students (undergraduate, graduate and international students) that are graduating in Dec. 2026 OR later.

The GO Project helps New York City public school students thrive in the earliest stages of their education through year-round academic, social-emotional, and family support. We believe that sustained, individualized and responsive academic instruction is the most effective pathway to closing achievement gaps for students across the city.

Position Overview: (Provide an overview of the role and its purpose in 4–6 sentences) 

Undergraduate and graduate students will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned teachers throughout the course of our 5 week summer program. Interns will be assigned to a classroom for the duration of the summer and will gain experience with classroom management, lesson planning, and instruction. Interns will see firsthand the impact that teachers can have on the academic and emotional development of students and develop skills for their future careers in education. Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience with other on-going projects during their work before and after the summer program. Additionally, interns will be able to engage with various departments at GO Project and work on various projects prior to the start of our 5 week summer program.  This can include but is not limited to working with our social work team, family engagement team, and development team. 

Key Responsibilities: (Use bullet points to clearly outline the major tasks and responsibilities 5–7 items preferred). 

● Support the teacher with strong student engagement and classroom management strategies
● Collaborate with classroom team and success coaches to support student learning and engagement
● Supervise and engage with students throughout the program day, including recess, lunch and trips
● Lead students through small group activities in the classroom–acting as a facilitator or co-facilitator depending on activity
● Support our Development and Family Engagement Teams with on-going projects

Preferred Skills: (please list general hard/soft/technical skills here, a bullet list will suffice)
● Demonstrated experience leading educational, recreational, and social activities for students
●Experience and comfort using the Microsoft Suite
● Demonstrated ability to follow youth safety policy and make judgments in situations involving youth safety

This can be through work at a camp, after school program or other youth programming.
